October Ladies Lunch at Concord College
130 ladies attended a fund raising lunch on the 27th of October at Concord College, Acton Burnell. Following a drinks reception in the entrance hall, the ladies sat down to a delicious lunch prepared by the chefs of Concord College. Butternut squash soup served with artisan croutons and creme fraiche, was followed by rosemary marinated rump of welsh lamb, with buttercofit potato, white onion puree, roasted shallot, star anise and rosemary gravy. Leaving barely room for the sweet of hazelnut meringue topped with chocolate brulee citrus chouxs and orange jus!
Following the drawing of a 22 prize raffle, Gordon Crofts, Master updated the the ladies on the Drapers Place project and thanked them for raising over £10,000 pounds so far through the lunches, a fantastic achievement. Gordon also thanked Concord College for their continued support and the marvellous lunch everyone had enjoyed. Robert Milton, Volunteer Officer for The Churches Conservation Trust and based at St. Mary's Church, Shrewsbury then spoke about the work of the Trust and the many and varied churches they look after, including St. Mary's where the Draper Chapel is to be found.
