Ladies Lunch at Shrewsbury High School-31st October 2017

Ladies Lunch at Shrewsbury High School 31 October 2017

Over £1000 was raised through ticket sales and a well supported raffle at the Ladies Lunch held in the impressive new dining area at Shrewsbury High School.  The School made all attending very welcome and provided a 3 course meal of a high standard and well served.  For those old girls who attended, the standard of cuisine was in marked contrast to their memories of school food!

The guest speaker was  Prof. Lalage Bown. A women's education and literary advocate of international renown she spent 31 years establishing and promoting university education in Africa. She entertained the ladies with her adventures on her 1966 railway journey across Africa, 1678 miles in 18 days, at a time of civil unrest where a European woman travelling alone was unusual and with risk
