THE YOUNG TEXTILE DESIGN COMPETITION 2021
The Shrewsbury Drapers’ Company were delighted to be able to hold their annual Textile Competitions in St Mary’s Church Shrewsbury after cancelling the exhibition in 2020 due to COVID 19.
The Young Textile Design Competition combined with the Adult and Student Textile Competition, displayed a wide variety of Textile techniques including, applique, hand and machine embroidery, printing techniques, beading and embellishment, felting and needle felting as well as fashion garments.
We were delighted to receive entries from eight schools in Shropshire, including the following schools, some of whom have not previously entered the competition:-
Adcote School, Concord College, Mary Webb School, Meole Brace School, Thomas Adams School, Shrewsbury Academy, Shrewsbury High School and Shrewsbury School.
The Awards and Presentation Reception took place on Wednesday 24th November and was attended by the High Sheriff of Shropshire Tony Morris-Eyton, the Mayor of Shrewsbury Councillor Julian Dean, the Mayor of Wem Councillor Peter Broomhall, Master of the Shrewsbury Drapers’ Company John Crackettas well as other members of the Shrewsbury Drapers Company and other invited guests.
